Portland Ocean Gateway Wedding of Mary Julia & Matthew | Portland Maine Wedding Photographer
Portland ME wedding Photographer: I am constantly reminded just how special my job is and how wonderful my clients truly are! Julia & Matt are two of the sweetest and what an incredible honor it was to document their beautiful wedding day.
We started our day at Julia’s Mother’s home in Portland, Maine with a few of Julia’s near and dear family members and friends. I just loved all of Julia’s dusty blue wedding details including the bridesmaid dresses, pretty ring box, and a touch of blue in her bridal shoes. We had the perfect spot for bridesmaid photos in the backyard overlooking a little pond before we headed off to the church.
Julia & Matt’s wedding ceremony took place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Portland. This church is beyond stunning with gorgeous stained glass windows and an incredible arched ceiling! I loved the bridal party photos on the front steps with the architectural details before we headed off to the Eastern Promenade. We lucked out for sure with the beautiful weather! It was the perfect day to be out by the ocean with this gorgeous couple.
I highly suggest to make sure you have time for photos before your cocktail hour begins if you are not planning a first look . We had plenty of time for photos and Julia & Matt did not miss a minute of their cocktail hour. Their reception took place at Portland Ocean Gateway on the Portland waterfront. What an amazing spot for a wedding reception! Panoramic views of the ocean, huge industrial style cathedral ceilings, and an amazing porch that hung over the water were just a few of the many features. We were able to sneak out during golden hour for a few more romantic photos with the cityscape in the background.
There were so many special moments during Julia & Matt’s day. A few of my favorites…Matt’s huge smile when he saw Julia walk through the church doors. Catching the bridal party hitting up the hotdog stand while we took pictures of Julia & Matt. When Julia thanked her Mom in a heartfelt speech (I could not hide my tears) and then got the party started with dancing queen dedicated to Mom. And I can’t forget Matt’s 10 year old nephew Will, and his incredible dance moves that brought this party to a whole new level. So incredibly cute!!
