Migis Lodge Wedding Photography: I have been looking forward to Kara & Chris’s Migis Lodge Wedding in South Casco, Maine for quite some time. Migis Lodge is a Maine wedding photographer’s dream located on Sebago lake with pristine lakefront views and full of rustic charm. It is easy to see why Kara & Chris fell in love with this magical place!

It is a long standing tradition for the Bride to board Captain Tim’s antique Chris-Craft boat for a breathtaking ride to the ceremony site. Kara & her Mom waved onto wedding guests before the boat docked and they made their journey down the lake side path to meet Chris. Their lakeside wedding ceremony under the enormous pine trees was simply stunning.

The state of Maine holds a very special place in Kara’s heart and Chris quickly grew to love it here. I think Kara said it best on a facebook post 5 days before her wedding:

Why Maine? When we tell people we are getting married in a state neither of us are “from,” people look perplexed.

So let me tell you what it is about this house, this place, this state. This place is my childhood. My second home. The place when I close my eyes and think really hard I’m transported to. My happy place.

It’s a long story of summers since 1957, fixing up a little camp that had no modern amenities, my grandparents desiring to buy that little place they borrowed from friends, to finally resigning to retiring in this house next door. The labor of love my mother has put in to care for and restore them to all their glory. It’s a story for another day: the tale of two homes.

It’s just the way life was meant to be: Slower. Kinder. Fresher. With water lapping rocks. With sun kissed noses. With paddles around the lake. With late night boat cruises. With fishing poles in all day. With sun dancing on the ceiling. With cocktail hour on the dock. With the glow of a lighthouse marking the channel. With logging trains roaring by the house. With the laughter of kids splashing and jumping. With quiet early morning swims.
With dogs roaming free. With the hopes of a grandfather for his kids and granddaughter to come and rest a while. With a kid, this kid growing and learning who she was. Growing more in a summer of freedom than she did all year.

It’s a place so magical it captivates you. The desire to spend more time in her presence burns deep. Chris quickly fell in love as I did as a kid and we wanted all of our friends and family to enjoy a Maine summer even if only for a weekend. ❤️⠀⠀
